Sven Schedin Obituary
Ashburnham, MA - Sven A. Schedin, 80, of Ashburnham, died peacefully Friday morning April 3, 2015, at his home.
Sven was born in Worcester, MA, son of the late Thure S. and Ellen (Dahlman) Schedin, and has lived in Ashburnham for 47 years. Sven will be missed by his wife of 56 years Valeda J. (Houle) Schedin, two children; Eric A. Schedin and his wife Suzanne of Milford, NH, and Karen H. Schedin of Merrimack, NH and her fiancé Anthony Scola, and three grandchildren; Michael Schedin, Nicholas LaRoche, and Kyle Schedin. He was predeceased by his daughter, Lisa A. Schedin.
Sven is veteran of the United States Army and served in Korea during the Korean War with the 728th Military Police Battalion. Upon his return to the United States he was stationed at Fort Devens in MA. After military service Sven earned a Bachelor of Science from Worcester State University, a Master of Science from Syracuse University, and a Master of Education from Fitchburg State University. Sven worked as a chemistry teacher in Newton and Fitchburg, MA and as an assistant professor at Mt. Wachusett Community College and Springfield College.
Sven was an antique car enthusiast and took joy in his vintage, 1971 Cadillac Eldorado. He also enjoyed boating and his classic Century speedboat. He also played golf regularly. Most of all he enjoyed time with family and friends, but particularly the time spent with all his grandchildren.
You are invited to attend a calling hour in the Lamoureux Fletcher and Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner, MA friday April 10, 2015 from 12-1PM. Burial with Military honors will be held in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery 111, Glenallen St., Winchendon on Friday Paril 10, 2015 beginning at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.

We all miss you already. You sure made an impression on everyone you met. We are all coming together now to weather the loss. Speaking about the weather, it snowed again last night. Are you looking down on us and saying "Oh Wow". Rest in Peace and Happiness Sven and scoop up our little girl. She waited a very long time to see you again. We all love you.

Uncle Sven,
Our memories will always be of a genuine, quiet and respected individual with a highly personable smile. I remember cruising Lake Sunshine with uncle Sven navigating his pride and joy, the majestic mahogany gem of the waters. His Salt and Pepper hair glistening in the lake breezes with a broad smile of pride and contentment. Many similar memories echo throughout the decades. Even during his medical challenges, he was able to console others with his dynamic smile and sense of humor.
A charismatic gentleman who will be missed. Our deepest condolences to the family and friends.
