Timothy Norton Obituary

Timothy S. Norton 59

LEOMINSTER - Timothy Shawn Norton died on Monday, June 15, 2020 after a long battle with mental illness and addiction at the age of 59. He leaves behind his three beloved children, who embody all of the best things in Tim; Sam, Maggie, and Lucy as well as his ex-wife Kristen Caisse. He was born to the late Phillip A. Norton, Sr. and Louise M. (Dandini) Norton in Attleboro, MA on November 26, 1960 as the fourth of seven children. He is predeceased by his parents and oldest sister Maura L (Norton) Sullivan. He is survived by his five siblings Phillip Norton, Thomas Norton and his wife Becky, Jane Norton and her wife Leslie, Judy (Norton) Senfleben and Julianne (Norton) Duss and her husband Arne. Tim also leaves behind Maura's husband, Gerald Sullivan and a number of in-laws, nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

Tim grew up on Cape Cod having lived in Popponesset and Bourne. He graduated from Bourne High School in 1979 where he excelled in athletics and developed many lifelong friendships. Tim loved spending endless days at Old Silver Beach watching beautiful sunsets with his children, extended family and friends. He enjoyed swimming and playing in the ocean for hours and, by far, always had the biggest bag of beach toys!

Tim was a fierce competitor having participated in Falmouth Road Races, Triathlons, a Half Iron Man, Boston Marathons, Tough Mudder and Spartan Races over the years. Whether it was a friendly game of pick-up basketball or a family game of pirate ball, Tim's mischievous spirit and competitiveness often led to creative rule changes or interpretations that usually slanted the score in his favor. Tim was an avid fan of the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins. Without question, he most enjoyed watching his children and extended family members coach, compete and excel in athletics as they earned many championships through the years.

Tim founded and owned Apex Properties. While Tim worked as a Commercial Real Estate Investment Broker for his company, he spent his life committed to community service. Tim coached his children and youth sports through the Leominster Recreation Department. He served as the Vice Chair of the North Central Massachusetts Boys and Girls Club. He also chaired its Capital and Endowment Campaign and founded the Annual Boys and Girls Club Dual 5 K Great Futures Race. Additionally, Tim served as a parent representative for several Leominster Public School District's committees. Tim was the recipient of the Boys and Girls Club Distinguished Service Award and the Mount Wachusett Community College Presidential Commendation Service Above Self Award.

We will remember Tim as the charismatic and caring person that he was at his core. We are grief stricken and saddened that mental illness and addiction can rob us of those we love.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tim's memory to help his children's pursuit of academic excellence; Boston College, University of Florida and Providence College. Donations can be sent to the Norton Children College Fund - Care of Enterprise Bank located at 65 Main Street Leominster, MA 01453.

Funeral services are private due to the COVID-19 restrictions. A second celebration of Tim's life will be held at a later date on Cape Cod. www.richardsonfuneralhome.net

I just found out about Tim‘s passing, and I am heartbroken. I was thinking of him and his kids this evening, and I reached out to the kids and somewhere along the way I came across this news. I really don’t have any words, or the right ones anyway But Tim helped me so much at a time when I really needed support. He is a great guy. Fun, loving! Thought the world of his kids I will miss him.

To the Norton Family,
There are no words to express how saddened I was to hear of Tim's passing. We have known each other since middle school . His kids were his pride and joy and this was the topic of many conversations he had with me. He loved being a father. How I remember his competitive nature and years of playing basketball (as well as other sports). He went all in and was very accomplished as an athlete! May you all find solace in the memories you will always have and may you be lifted up by much love and support from others during this time. Tim, you will be so missed. Rest peacefully now, my friend.

I'm terribly saddened to learn of Tims passing. I knew him through my dad, Tim Richards, and his commitment to the Boys & Girls Club. Tim and my father bonded over many similarities they had in common from their passion for service, running, and their shared struggles for life. For Tims children, the journey to healing is long, the road often bumpy, but I promise you, there will be brightness in your days again. Allow yourself to feel what you feel, and take one day, one step at a time. My sincerest condolences - Jennifer

I was so sorry to hear that Tim had passed. In 2007 I worked with team and his team, opening a campus on Devens. He always had a smile and was witty and easy to work with, I thought. Over the years we became friends. He would stop in to see how people were doing and often we'd sometimes have lunch. He was a character! Anyone who knew Tim, knew how much he loved his family. His respect for his wife, and deep adoration of the kids. He would proudly show their pictures and talk about their achievements. I hope you all know how deeply he loved you all and how much he wanted to be well. Embrace the wonderful times you all had, as we all have them. Wishing you all peace and love during this difficult time.

The whole family of the Boys & Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster are saddened by the lose of our dear friend Tim Norton. We shared so many good times with Tim. He was a champion for our members and our mission. He was always looking for ways to help us fulfill or mission. Tim founded our Great Futures 5k, the fundraising "Signature Event" for the Club over 8 years ago. He hiked with us and taught yoga at the Club. We had some great times. Tim will be missed but will always be with us. It's hard to believe we will not see him sauntering into the Club and greeting us all. Kristin, Sam, Maggie, and Lucy please know we are thinking of you.

There is a sacredness in tears.
They are not the mark of weakness,
but of the power of love.

They speak more eloquently
than ten thousand tongues.
They are messengers of overwhelming grief ...
and unforgettable love.

May your tears speak to your heart
and help you all to heal at this time of sorrow.

In deepest sympathy.
