Vincent Dauphinais Obituary

Vincent A. Dauphinais
North Grafton - North Grafton-Vincent A. "Vinny" Dauphinais, 68, of North Grafton, died peacefully at home on Friday, April 27, 2012 surrounded by loving family.
Vinny was born in Worcester, son of the late Albert and Elsie (Champagne) Dauphinais, and was raised in Grafton. He graduated from Grafton High School. Vinny then joined his father and uncles working at the family owned and operated Redi Mix concrete business, Construction Services of North Wilbraham and E.L. Dauphinais, Inc., based in Grafton. Following the purchase of the business by Egerton in 1987, Vincent was appointed vice-president and then president of the western division, a position he held until he left the company in 1991. In 1992, along with his father, Vincent purchased the western division back and remained as owner of Dauphinais and Son's division, Construction Service, until its sale to Carroll Concrete in 2008. He remained working as a consultant for the company until recently. While with the companies, Vinny negotiated many of the contracts with the Teamsters and Operating Engineers locals. He also hauled bulk cement for LaFarge for many years. He was a lifetime member of MACAPA, the Massachusetts Home Builders Association, the Chamber of Commerce and served on the advisory board for Osh Kosh Manufacturing. He was a faithful member of Saint Phillips Parish in Grafton for many years, where he frequently played the organ for services, and later joined St. Mary's Parish. He loved boating, fishing and spending time with his wife, family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne E. (Ford) Dauphinais; his three children, Craig Dauphinais and his wife Carol, Lori Trahan and her husband Roger, and Robert Gervais and his wife Amanda, his sister, Rhonda Valanzola, all of Grafton; his seven grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, sisters and brothers in-law and many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass on Saturday, May 5th at 11 AM in Saint Marys' Church, 17 Waterville Street, North Grafton. Burial services are private. There are no visiting hours. Instead of flower, memorial contributions may be sent to NEADS(www.neads.org), P.O. Box 213, West Boylston, MA 01583 or to the Saint Mary's Church, 17 Waterville St., North Grafton, MA 01536.

Craig and Lori: So sad to hear this news from MA. I knew your dad for many years since I went to school with all his cousins in Worcester. Actually your dad and I "stood up" together in his cousin's wedding and your mom and my sister have been good friends since kindergarten. I remember him driving around in his T-Bird! God bless you both. Joan (Fafard) Guillette, Placentia, CA

Remembering good times on Carroll Road alongside Lori: family dinners with Vinny and Theresa, BBQs, Ogunquit, Disney, boating, just hanging out. Moving forward, let's continue to fight the fight against cancer (Relay for Life, Umass Cancer Walk, Jimmy Fund, etc).
