Vivian Bartlett Obituary

Vivian (Fecteau) Bartlett, 71, of Worcester, died Monday, Nov. 30 at Saint Vincent's Hospital, surrounded by her family.

She leaves her husband, Robert J. Bartlett; a daughter, Ann Marie and her husband, Robert P. Walsh of Worcester; two sons: John J. Bartlett and his wife Donna of Paxton, and Philip P. Bartlett and his wife Melanie of Hopkinton; a sister, Pauline Casavant of Spencer; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Fecteau of Spencer; six grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Her brother, Robert Fecteau and her brother-in-law, Wallace Casavant, died earlier this year. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Raymond A. and Ida A. (Audette) Fecteau. She grew up in Spencer and moved to Worcester following her marriage in 1963.

Vivian was a registered nurse and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. After graduation from St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in 1959, Vivian returned and spent approximately 2 years in the employ of the hospital and then worked at the U.S. Veteran's Hospital in Rutland for approximately 2 years. Following the birth of her 3 children in 1964 and 1965, she rendered part-time private duty nursing care at various hospitals and health care facilities around the Worcester area. After serving on several home care cases of lengthy duration, she became an industrial nurse at Wright Machine Corp. and later continued her career at Reed Rolled Thread Co. in Holden.

In 1981, she assumed the position of school nurse, serving the health needs of over 3,300 students at Worcester State College. She derived great satisfaction from her work with the students. She continued in this position until her retirement in 1994, due to the onset of health issues including Scleroderma.

She enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, and sundry craft projects. In the 1970's, Vivian was active as an assistant Girl Scout troop leader and also a Cub Scout den leader. In recognition of her service to scouting she was awarded the Bronze Pelican Award by the Diocese of Worcester.

This year she celebrated 50 years as an alumnus of the St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing. She will be forever missed by her husband of 46 years, her three loving children, and their families.

The funeral will be held Friday, December 4 from Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave., Worcester, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m at Blessed Sacrament Church, 551 Pleasant St. Burial will be in Mooreland Cemetery, Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday, Dec. 3 from 4 to 7 p.m at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Vivian's memory may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 105, Danvers, MA 01923 or to a charity of one's choice.

Dear Annie B
I was so sorry to hear about your mom. She was my dad's favorite cousin. He said so many times. Whenever I think of her I hear her laugh, I think of her shoe collection all over the house, and of strawberry ruebarb jelly..she made it so well. She was a great lady, and your family was so lucky to have had her! I know it's been a very long time since we spoke, but I do think of you often, and I want you to know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Jackie (Fecteau) Walsh
