William Carey Garrett Jr., 81, of Vonore, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.
He was a member of Madisonville Presbyterian Church, where he loved working with the youth and was on several committees. He served as president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Purnell Garrett; daughters, Shelby Jeanine Garrett of Herdon, Va., and Morgan Janel Garrett of Pooler, Ga.; brother, Thomas B. Garrett of Ambler, Penn., and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Carey Garrett Sr. and Ruth Bibbins Garrett.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Madisonville Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Deidra Crosby and Don Winn officiating. Interment followed in Corntassel Cemetery. The family received friends 1:30-2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
