Addie Ruth "Ruthie" Gibbs

Nashville, TN

Age 89, McKendree Village, Hermitage, TN. Passed away April 24, 2015.

Preceded in death by parents, Martin Luther and Allie Bell Baggett; sisters, Jessie, Johnnie, Carlene, Hazel, Mildred, Bea, Ora Belle; brothers, Stewart & Joe; beloved son-in-law, Dave Patterson.

Survived by loving husband of 67 years, Billy Gibbs; daughter, Barbara Ann Patterson; son, Wm, Jr. "Hal" (Laurie); beloved grandson, William David Patterson; sister, Lora Nell Hinkle.

Born in Hopkinsville, KY, she was an excellent student but was forced to quit school in 8th grade. During WWII, she worked at Vultee riveting airplane wings. In 1947, she married and became a housewife and devoted mother. She proudly received her GED in 1982. Hobbies included cooking, sewing, quilting, playing the organ; she loved her flowers & birds. Yard sales were a passion where she bought, refinished and sold antiques.

Remains will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be at McKendree Village Chapel on Saturday, May 9 at 2 p.m. with visitation 1 hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name, may be made to, Metro Nashville GED program or the McKendree Chapel Fund.

Barbara, So sorry to hear about your mother. Losing a parent is a difficult passage, and I will be thinking about you and your family.
I see Cynthia (Myers) Poole frequently, and we were just thinking about our time
at Goodlettsville High recently. The school has been torn down to make way for a new middle school building. Again, my sympathy to your family. Linda (Wooten) Highers GHS '68
