Alice Yeager Obituary
Nashville - Alice Lee Yeager, 86, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Lebanon Health and Rehabilitation Center. A Lawrence County native and graduate of Loretto High School, Alice lived in Nashville and worked for the State of Tennessee for over 40 years. She began her service in the state Department of Conservation and later moved to the state Legislature; where she was assistant chief clerk of Tennessee House of Representatives from 1982-1986. She worked for Speaker of the House, Ned McWherter, during his entire 14-year tenure in that office, and then served as ombudsman in the Governor's office during the McWherter administration.
Alice was a long-time active member of Nashville First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Spurgeon and Cynthia (Laurence) Yeager, sisters, Rita Paul Yeager and Marie Yeager Farris, brother, Carl H. Yeager, and nieces Jackie Yeager McLaughan and Judy Yeager Freeze Williams.
She is survived by nieces, Kay Farris McCall, Beth Yeager Corum Bridgmon, and Suzanne Yeager Boyd, and nephews, Joe Farris, Wade Farris, Mike Yeager, Tim Yeager, and Vic Yeager.
The funeral service for Ms. Yeager was held at Loretto Memorial Chapel on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 12:00 P.M. The family conducted the service. Burial was followed in Center Point Methodist Cemetery. Visitation was on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 11:00-12:00 at Loretto Memorial Chapel.
Loretto Memorial Chapel was in charge of all arrangements.

Alice was my heart friend for many years at First Baptist Church in Nashville. She wasn't scared of ANYthing. I miss her.

Alice was a dear friend and very faithful member of Nashville's First Baptist Church. She was always smiling and willing to help in any way. Her legacy will live on in the lives of many. So sorry for your loss. I was out of town or would have been at her service.

I just learned of Alice's passing. I worked with Alice in the McWherter administration and in the legislature. Governor McWherter had a high regard for Alice and always gave her credit for helping him in the early days of his speakership. I am so very sorry for your loss. Alice was truly a unique individual.
