GARCIA, Bertha Mae Woodruff Age 93 of Nashville, passed through this life into the arms of her Savior on February 20, 2012. Her strong faith and kindness and love of life touched the lives of many. She was a member of Lebanon Rd. Church of Christ. She was born in Neon, KY in 1918. During her teen years, she formed a trio with her two sisters, The Cooncreek Girls, later renamed The Sunshine Sisters. She was a very talented fiddler. She furthered her musical career with her first husband, Charles, and her sister, Martha Carson, Grand Ole Opry Star. She later retired from the music business to raise her three children and began a 30 year career with the TN Dept. of Revenue. Preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Woodruff; mother and father; two infant daughters; two sisters and one brother. Her survivors include husband, Robert Garcia; three loving children, Charles Michael Woodruff of Gallatin, Shirley (Bob) Ferry of Nashville and Sandra (Marvin) Smith of Nashville and NC; three grandchildren, Mark Smith, Lisa Jennings and Micah McKinney; three great-grandchildren, Autumn, Tristan and Jadyn; five step-children, Reuben (Tina) Garcia, Tina (Eddie) Guinn, Bobby Garcia, Nita (Hugh) Sterry and Tonya Sann; step-grandchildren; and two brothers, Lloyd Amburgey of Nashville and Glenn Amburgey of Cincinnati. A Celebration of Mrs. Garcia's life will be held Friday, February 24, 2012 between four o'clock and seven o'clock in the evening at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Thank you to the many friends who offered prayers and support during her illness.
