My name is Bill Delzell. I was a former student of his at West End Junior High in Nashville, TN, from 1966 to 1967. I enjoyed his civics class very much even though he taught only the first twelve weeks of the class. When he started a special honors seminar after the twelfth week, a woman named Ms. Region (sp.?) replaced him for our class for the remainder of the academic year. Unfortunately, I did not make it into his honors seminar although it would have been a great honor.
I understand that he accepted a new job at another high school in Nashville the following year when I would attend Hillsboro High. I believe he started some major academic programs for the new school he went to in the fall of 1967. A friend of our family, Bill Schneider, started his teaching career at the same school where Haily transferred to. Schneider's father was Dr. Fred Schneider who taught British History at Vanderbilt University.
I am sorry I never got to see Mr. Hailey again after I left West in 1967.

I am a cousin .I have known him all of his life,as I am 7 yrs older than him. I spent several summers and many weekends with his family. We had many good times doing the things boys do on the farm, especially riding the horses . He had his own pony that could outrun every thing on the farm. He was a outstanding student in school and in everything he did. Me and my deceased wife were very fond of him. I always felt he and I had mutual respect for one and the other.

Mr. Hailey taught me in the 9th grade at Cavert Junior High. He was a great teacher and a favorite of all the students. I remember his love of tennis, of which he often spoke. A terrific teacher and someone we all admired. Thank you, Mr. Hailey.
