OVERTON, Ella JaneAge 86 of Murfreesboro. May 19, 2013. She is survived by her sons, Houston Jr. (Mary) and Tim (Diane) Overton; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. She will lie-in-state on Wednesday, May 22nd from 3-6 p.m., visitation 6-7 p.m. at Scales & Sons Chapel. Thursday, May 23rd, lie-in-state 11-12p.m., visitation 12- 1 p.m., funeral to follow at First Baptist Church, 738 E. Castle St. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Overton was the best math teacher ever and she should be recognized as such. As a kid from Harlem, NY, living in TN, she gave me great inspiration to work hard as though I was at home.

SORRY FOR YOUR LOST. Ms. Overton was the best math teacher at Holloway. (1965 GRADUATE) If you were in her class, you came out knowing math. Wish kids today had such a math teacher as her. Back in the day, she was number 1.

Mrs. Overton will be sadly missed. She was an inspiration to me. She was loving patient and kind I will never forget the many words of wisdom she gave me along my path at Oakland. RIP and know that we will see you again one day.

Mrs. Overton was the best math teacher I ever had. I struggled with Algebra until I had her class, where she taught us with gentleness and compassion. God bless you, Mrs. Overton. Thank you for touching the lives of so many of us.

Mrs. Overton was such an inspiration to me when I was at Central High School many years ago. She encouraged me to learn and try my best. She truly mentored her students and cared deeply for them. I am blessed to have had her in my young life.
