Eugenia McGINNIS Obituary

McGINNIS, Eugenia Mobley Age 89 of Nashville. May 2, 2011. DDS, MPH, FACD, FCD, FAPHA, FRSH. Dr. Mobley was professor of Restorative Denistry, School of Dentistry and loyal Alumna of Meharry Medical College. She has been recognized for her excellence in denistry and contributions made in the school of denistry. She was the first woman to earn a Masters of Public Health degree from the University of Michigan in 1948, the first female Dean at Meharry Medical College and the first woman to become Vice President at Meharry Medical College. She had a rewarding career, opening a private dental practice while maintaining her teaching positon at Meharry. She received numerous honors and awards for her achievements. Some of her affiliations include the National Institue of Health, International Assoc. for Dental Research, American Assoc. of Women Dental Society, American Dental Assoc. and the Council of Community Agencies to name a few. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Links and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles William McGinnis and son, William E. McGinnis. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Julia K. Hunter-McGinnis; grandsons, William Eugene McGinnis II and Edgar James McGinnis; step grandsons, LaVosia Terez Hunter, LoQuicious Miguel Hunter, and Jeffery Miguel Hunter; a long time loving and devoted friend, Wilda Siebert, and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday, 12-6 p.m., at Terrell Broady Funeral Home, 3855 Clakrsville Pike. Visitation Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 10-10:15 a.m., Links Ritual 10:15-10:30 a.m., Omega Omega Service 10:30-11 a.m., with funeral service to follow at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1700 Heiman St., Nashville, TN.
