Harry Elson Womack, age 79 of White House, TN, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014.
He was born July 20, 1935 in Rock Island, TN to parents Walter and Thelma Fisher Womack. He was a 1953 graduate of Warren County Central High School. He married Christine Buck Womack on January 29, 1954.
He had a career-long service with Rudy's Farm Co. and retired Vice President of Operations for Sara Lee Corp. Meat Group, Cordova, TN. Most recently associated with Tennessee Bun Company, Nashville, TN. He was co-founder of Nashville Ronald McDonald House Charity Golf Tournament; a member of Tennessee Traveling Seniors Golf Association; a farmer and avid gardener; hunter and fisherman. Harry's greatest interest, love and pride were his nine wonderful grandchildren.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judy Locke, Midway, TN.
Survived by his wife of 60 years, Christine Buck Womack; children, Randy (Sandra) Womack, Germantown, TN, Teresa (Bob) Major, Joelton, TN, Tom (Chrystal) Womack, White House, TN; sisters, Dorothy Miramontez, Carrollton, TX, Kathy (Larry) Moore, McMinnville, TN; grandchildren, JT Womack, Daley Smith, Jeremy & Matthew Womack, Cage Major, Kate, Sarah, Taylor and William Womack; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, from the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home with Kevin Collier officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with grandsons Bob Major and Jim Smith serving as Pallbearers.
Visitation Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 until 1:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nashville Ronald McDonald House or to the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County, 935 Farm Rd. Memphis, TN 38134.
