So sorry to learn of Jim's passing. I worked with Jim at Metro in the late 60's and was following him into the Sports Director's position when I accepted an out-of-state job. Coming back to Tennessee 4 years later provided me the opportunity to interact with Jim for the next 35 years through TRPA, TDEC, TVA, and the State's outdoor planning process.
What a great impact he has had on recreation and parks in the State of Tennessee. Jim was a quiet leader who enabled people and organizations working with him. He was one of those folks who had the gift of being able to achieve at a high level.
His accomplishments will impact many thousands of Tennesseans for decades to come. He will be greatly missed!....Respectfully

I, and many others, remember James Harold so well as a dear friend and classmate from grade school through DuPont High School in Old Hickory, TN. He was a class leader and great basketball player for DuPont. Of course, we are proud of his accomplishments for Nashville and Tennessee. Rest in peace, James Harold. Peace be with his family.

This is really hard for me because he was a wonderful friend. I will truly miss him. I loved working for him and he made my life a lot brighter. He was one of the greatest men I knew. Always pleasant with everyone. I never heard him say a harsh word. I will always remember the time I went with him and others to a Lady Vols basketball game. We had a wonderful time. Becky and family I am so sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you.

Mr. Fyke was one of the sweetest and kindest men I have ever met and had the pleasure to work with. He was the ultimate professional and just personal enough to know he cared. He is already missed sorely. He was a good man, well loved and respected. He will forever be in my heart.
May God comfort you, Becky and family during this time. Keeping you in prayer.
