I just found this obituary, and am shocked and sad. Jim was a great man who loved poetry and listened to Nanci Griffith music with me. I'm so sorry to hear he is gone. -Karen Swanson

I knew Jim almost 40 years. I texted him tonight to go on a hike and catch up. I located this obituary after no reply. Jim was a great guy. He was very smart. I will miss our stimulating conversations about philosophy, religion, culture, and the brain. I’m so sad that we didn’t keep more frequent contact, letting life get in the way.

I am saddened and surprised to learn of Jim's passing. My sister and I are Jim's first cousins. We grew up with him and visited as often as possible. I know that he is at peace with his Mom and Dad, Kenny and Louise. He was a lifelong blessing to them and a much-loved answer to their prayers. Our hearts are broken.

Jim's German shepherd, Yazzi, was very large and had a very loud bark. Her favorite place was sitting on Jim's lap.
