Holy crap I said to myself this guy is strong. Took me by surprise the first time I shook his hand. That was the day I met John Legend as I use to call him. Our friendship blossomed over discussions ranging from music to Japanese anime to life. He had the ability to get you to say and do what you wanted, and act on it. Till this day that ability has stayed with me. Before he left to Tennessee. I told him how I would like to Seattle down and have a Family. He told me his whole plan about going back to Tennessee. We both agreed that we were going to follow thru on it. I told him I didn't want to see him again or know any details. Because in 20 years we were gonna have a reunion and talk all about. He told me months ago. "I came back home was with my mother. Found the love of my life. And caught a incurable cancer I can't win them all." But you did my brother I love you I'll never forget you. If I'm a bit kinder is because of you. legends never die

John was one of my oldest and dearest friends. We traded guitar licks constantly, shared a love for Adult Swim cartoons and obsessed over 90's rock bands. There are so many things I wish I could share with him now, but I find comfort in knowing that so many of the things I enjoy or create are inspired by my friendship with him. I hope that those who know him dearly feel the same. My heart goes out to his family and friends. He was an amazing, gifted, wonderful person who I will always cherish. I'd be happy to share any of the guitar recordings he sent me to his close family if requested.

John had a unique ability to make me smile and laugh every time I was around him. He was the kindest and most genuine young man I'd ever met. Anyone who met him was better off because of it.

I was in complete shock to have heard about this today from Jenna, my best friend from high school. The 3 of us were so close then. John was my first real boyfriend and junior prom date at Overton. Then, several years later, my career path in college led me to work with his brother Dave at Fox 17. John was so talented with guitar and bowling, and so funny.... we shared alot of great memories. My heart just hurts right now... Because of what John endured, but also because of what you all must left feeling. I know all too well what it's like to lose a loved one from cancer. I lost my mom to it 5 years ago, and my sister is battling it again now. I pray right now that the Holy Spirit comfort you all and that you feel the Lord's peace and presence in the days ahead.

Prayers for Hal and James and all who love John. I just found these arrangements or I would have been there today. I have something he gave me and will always cherish it and his memory. Love you John.

Got to know John the last several years at the Franklin Lanes. Always a greetings, smile and friendly face to me when there. Have enjoyed getting to know him as a customer but more importantly grew to be a friend. Enjoyed getting to know him and even had him at my dinner table.
May you John rest and find Peace and Joy in Heaven and God shine his face upon you.
For those left behind with your absence, may comfort and compassion be blessed upon you .
Will miss you my friend !!!

I remember John working at Tusculum Lanes at one time when I bowled there. He definitely was a character and could make you laugh, just like his mother! The Pope and Foster families are very special to a lot of us here in the Nashville area that have grown up around them. John will never be forgotten. Prayers for peace and comfort for his family and friends.
