Nashville - JOHN DARRELL HEMBY January 24, 1971 - October 25, 2020
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Darrell Hemby. Darrell was the devoted and doting father to Jonathan Drake Hemby, the beloved son of Linda and Randall Hemby, the dear sibling to Cheryl Oakley (Sam), Kim Hemby, and Michael Thomason, and the loving uncle to his nieces and nephew.
Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Darrell, was met with his kind and loving heart, his infectious smile, laughter and love of life, and if they were lucky enough, one of his engaging tales…some of them a little "tall". Nothing gave Darrell more pleasure in life than his precious son, Drake. Much like his father Randall had taught him, Darrell introduced the love of fishing and the outdoors to Drake at a very, young age. There was no happier place for Darrell than sitting in a boat with his son on a beautiful lake with a rod in his hand on a sunny day when the "fish were biting." Most recently, he was so proud to see Drake's passion of fishing turn into his admittance to various fishing competitions, which he loved attending.
There are no words to describe the void he will leave in the lives of his family and friends. He was taken from us too soon, but his spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 28, 1-2, with a Funeral Service at 2:00; all at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN 37221.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Eagle Anglers, Carson-Newman University, Advancement Office, PO Box 557, Jefferson City, TN 37760.
