Hello, I had the honor of being an AFROTC cadet, at the University of Bowling Green, Det 620, back in the mid to late 1970s. Capt. Blackman taught me that "excellence is standard", and anything less is not permitted to exist..a lesson that I have never forgotten.

I met Johnny when I was a new graduate starting out at Lockheed. He was obviously bright and did much to mentor me in learning the complexities of our job in electronic countermeasures. I loved chat sessions with him. He had a fascinating background. That he rode in the back of F-4 phantoms was especially impressive. I loved his sense of humor. He teased me about parting my hair low to cover early baldness. He lovingly teased me about being a naive mormon boy from Utah. I noticed him reading "The 7 Habit of Highly Successful People". He loved success books, but "acted" hurt when I told him it was authored by a Utah Mormon.

It was obvious that his family was where his heart was. His face lit up talking about his girls' basketball games. Sounds like they were quite the athletes.

I'm sad Johnny has passed on. I want his family to know that I was very fond of him.

We just heard of Johnny's passing here at his old workplace, Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth. Johnny was a fine fellow to be around and work with. We enjoyed him greatly.
