Judy Maddux Obituary

Judy Joyner Maddux

Hendersonville - Judy Joyner Maddux, October 24, 1934 - January 28, 2020. Judy is survived by her husband of 66 years, Drew R. Maddux Sr. Drew saw Judy in the bleachers at the Isaac Litton High School gym when she was 13, and he's been smitten ever since.

She is survived by her daughter Lee Ann (Roger) Batey, grandchildren Brooke (Dave) Gilliam, Parker (Bonnie) Batey, Sloane Maddux, Lila (Charlie) Logsdon, and eight greats who she loved and spoiled like it was her job.

She is preceded in death by parents Ed Joyner and Vivian Waller Joyner, brother Ned Joyner, sister Ann Joyner Husband, son Drew R. 'Ric' Maddux Jr., and granddaughter Ansley Ford Batey.

Judy worked as a volunteer and took all the grandchildren to thirteen Fellowship of Christian Athletes camps around the country. She was an animal lover, particularly of tiny poodles and powerful Thoroughbred racehorses. She chose Jan Verzal, the winningest racehorse she and Drew ever owned. Judy loved being on the water, treasured her home on Old Hickory Lake, and brought it to life with flowers for 56 years. Friends and family made her light up. When Judy walked into a room people were drawn to her, and she charmed everyone, young and old.

Active pall bearers: Roger Batey, Parker Batey, Dave Gilliam, Charlie Logsdon, Owen Joyner, Dick Joyner, Hunter Husband, Woodie Husband, Sam Cook, Mike Woods.

Honorary pall bearers: Dr. Anderson Spickard III, Mark Barnhill, Jack Benz, John Eddie Cain, Bill Coble, Governor Winfield Dunn, Dr. Bob Fischer, Bill Puryear, Lisa Sexton, Lynn Stewart.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St,. Nashville TN 37203.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 1 pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home Chapel (5110 Gallatin Rd. Nashville). Visitation with the family will be Friday, January 31, 5-8 pm and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

To all of the Maddox Family,
Our deepest condolences to all from Lynn Quinn Cauthen, Barbara Quinn and Dawn Quinn Grogan. I was visiting my Mother a few days ago! She said, that Judy and her played together as little 5 year old girls, they stayed in touch as life long friends. She loved Judy, we all did. LeeAnn, she always showed me photos of your huge family, she loves you and your father so much! She is too ill to come to the visitation! She wanted me to tell you that she wanted to go to your visitation and truly regrets she won't be able to.
Sincerely,
Barbara Quinn, Lynn Quinn Cauthen
and Dawn Quinn Grogan
