Larry Doolittle Obituary

Larry Keith Doolittle

Marshville - Larry Keith Doolittle, Jr., 61, of Marshville, NC and Troy, AL, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

Larry, affectionately known as "Big D," was born April 5, 1957 in Charlotte, NC to the late Larry Keith Doolittle, Sr. and Elizabeth "Lib" Philemon Hazel.

In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by step-father, John W. Hazel.

Larry worked for Hank Williams Jr. for nearly 40 years and was still employed by Mr. Williams at the time of his death. He was an avid Duke Basketball and Alabama Football fan.

He was a gentle and kind man who never met a stranger, and loved his family and friends dearly. Larry had a very generous and giving soul; and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include mother, Lib Hazel of Mint Hill, NC; brother, Stacy (Rebekah Lowder) Doolittle of Marshville, NC; sister, Teresa Doolittle of Mint Hill, NC;

nephews, Cody (Danielle) Rominger and Jeremy Sizemore, all of Midland, NC; and close friends, Winnie Davis and her son, Chuck (Susan) Davis of Troy, AL;

and their children, Tyler and Grey "Buster" Davis. Esker Davis, Winnie's husband, predeceased Larry, but was also a very close friend of Larry's.

A memorial service to celebrate Big D's life will be held Saturday, October 27, 2018 1PM at his Marshville residence.

Larry had accomplished the Grand Slam of Turkeys; and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to National Wild Turkey Federation, nwtf.org; P.O. Box 530, Edgefield, SC 29824.

I was heartbroken to hear about the passing of my friend.We go back many years and from the first time we met, there was a life long bond that was made.I spent hours setting with Big D( I called him the doc) at Hank's last concert in Cincinnati. We laughed and told stories about an old friend Jessie Dalton. I will miss my ol' friend more than words can say.I think the good Lord is taking to many of the special people home and not replacing them. Gone to soon my dear ol' friend. When we parted after Hank's performance, the Doc said " I love you brother", I said I love you my brother. Adios my ol' friend.RIP.
