I knew Mark my whole life. He was that kind of cousin who isn't really family, but is as close as.
We drifted apart as we got older -- distance, interests, loss of connection. I remember the time leading up to his passing thinking about the ways our life had differed. Learning he had a family gave me hope and inspiration that he was in a good place, which makes the loss even harder.
Its been almost 10 years, and I've moved to Nashville and spend time where he used to live. The loss comes in waves and I wonder where he would be today.

Marcellus and I became friends in high school and would eat lunch together every day. After high school we continued to meet up for brunches and chats. I just saw you and Amanda the week before your passing and you both looked so happy. I've always enjoyed our times together, whether it was your stories of grande events, your jokes or your thoughts on life, I will forever miss your smile, intellect and your individual stamp you've imprinted on the world. My heart goes out to Amanda, Lulu, and all the Brooks family. You have completed your journey, Godspeed my friend.

I am so sad to know that Marcellus is gone. He and my son Thomas were friends a long time, going back to when they were in middle school. Then he and I became reacquainted when I worked at Fisk. I will always remember his smile. My condolences to his wife and the rest of his family; may God give you peace.
