FERRARI, MarioOf Nashville. Born September 9, 1932 in Trieste, Italy, passed away December 11, 2012. He is preceded in death by his parents: Carlo & Maria. Survived by his daughter: Gina Ferrari & grandchildren: Eric Marlo Ferrari & Max Ferrari Pace; special friends: Angelyn, Jimmy Webb, John Lee, Tamay, Robin & Holley, Dona, Monica, Wilma & Charles. Mario was the owner of the award winning restaurants, Mario's, Stockyard, Broadway Bistro, Wild Boar, Casablanca, & Galleria Ferrari Antiques. The restaurants received numerous awards, including the DiRoNA, AAA Four Star Diamond Award, Mobil 4 Star Award, Best of the Best 5 Star Diamond Award & Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence. Mario's was voted by Veronelli as one of the top ten Italian Restaurants in the USA. Mario also received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Best of the Best. He loved his family, friends, wine & cigars. The family will be holding a celebration of Mario's life at Valentino's, 907 West End Ave., Tuesday, December 18th at 2 p.m. The family would also like to send their many thanks to the staff at Alive Hospice for their tireless compassion. So sorry to hear of Mario's death. He was smart and became very successful in the restaurant business in Nashville, TN. I knew Mario through his wife, Angelyn. I am sending condolences to his family. Rest in peace Mario.

Even though I didn't know Mario very long he had a special place in my heart. I enjoyed being able to spend the last few months of his life getting to know him and all of his wonderful achievements! He could light up any room with his amazing personality! I enjoyed going into work every single day just to see what new things I could learn about him! He was a stubborn man and thats probably what I loved most about him because I was just as stubborn! The world will not be the same without him. He will be greatly missed! It was a great blessing for me to know that I was able to take care of him and comfort him in his last days. He will forever be in my heart!

Gina, I have been praying for yall. Hope you are all doing well! You had an amazing dad that loved you more than life itself..there wasnt a day that passed that he didn't talk about you! You will also always have a place in my heart. I am blessed to have met both of you!

Thank you to everyone with your kind words ... I will miss him so much but I promised him that I will be okay and I will. He is no longer suffering and he passed very peacefully. I am so thankful to have been such a big part of his life for so long. He was a great dad and man. I Love you Dad, Love Gina :)

My thoughts and prayers are with the family....I will always remember Mario Ferrari, my employer at the Broadway Bistro, with fondness and affection. He was generous, funny, sometimes intimidating, but he was always fiercely passionate about the pursuit of excellence in food and wine. There will never be another like Mario. He will be missed by me and so many others.

My parents Paul & Phylis were really good friends of Mario. My dad Paul Hudgins use to take me to Mario's every Saturday night. We really enjoyed talking and eating with Mario. I guess you can say I was almost born at Mario's because my mom went into labor with me while my parents were having dinner there. Mario will be missed. My prayers go out to the family.
