Michael Lee "Mickey" McClendon

Nashville - Michael Lee McClendon ("Mickey") age 62, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed from this life early Monday, September 10, 2018, at his home in Flynn's Lick, Jackson County, Tennessee, after a courageous and inspiring battle to survive small cell carcinoma. He was born Saturday, November 26, 1955 in Reading, Berkshire, England, a town on the Thames and Kennet rivers in southern England. He was the son of the late Harold E. McClendon of Nashville and Jean (nee Olney) McClendon originally of Reading. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Susie McClendon; his sister, Amanda McClendon (of Nashville); three children, Sandra Fly, Amanda Cumming and James Albrittion (all of Nashville); two beloved Grandchildren, Lillian and Alexander Fly (also of Nashville). Mickey is also survived by a host of loving cousins, many supportive friends and a superb church family. He will be missed dearly by his adoring fur babies. The family has chosen cremation and a Memorial Service will be held at Gainesboro United Methodist Church at a later date.

To the McClendon Family;

I am very sorry for your lost. Micky and I grew up together riding the same bus to Wright Jr High for years. We moved away after starting High School and i lost contact with Mickey. I remember very well his mother and dad and Amanda. His mother had that English accent and i loved to hear her talk. Micky, glad to know that you accepted Jesus and we will see each other again in Heaven.

Your Friend;

Dear Mick - I miss you like you cannot imagine. It's strange, isn't it, considering that we never met in person .... but you felt like a brother to me and you were always wonderful and loved talking to me - anything from Egyptology to motorcycles. Thank you so much for helping take care of our Susie all these years; I'm beyond grateful you two found each other. Please keep an eye on her and rest peacefully in Jesus' arms until you are reunited in the Lord's time. God bless you, Mick. You'll always be in my heart, dear friend.

Susie, I cannot adequately express my love and gratitude to you for the love and devotion you showed my brother, not just at his end, but throughout his life, first as his best friend, then as his wife. Thank you.
