Mitchell Mielnik was an amazing person and I had the honor to get to become friends with him. He was very caring and cared about everyone he knew. I had the honor of playing on his team for several seasons and being his defense partner. Mitchell was a very talented player that I could always count on. One of my favorite memories of playing with him is when me and Mitchell were in the penalty box with one of our good friend Kyle Bartels. Our coach, Todd Grosse, called for one of us 3 to get on the ice (we were all playing defense), but we were all in the box. Everyone who knows Mitchell can confirm he was a great hockey player who brought something special to the team that no one else could. Mitchell was a very talented, funny, and caring person that will be missed by all. RIP Mitch Your buddy, EZ

Mike and Tara,
There are no words to express the sadness that I am feeling at this time. Mike and I went to high school together and although we've drifted apart in adulthood, I will always remember Mike's smile. I know that that smile is missing today and it will be a long time coming. I am so sorry that you have lost one of the lights in your lives, but I pray that God will keep him safe and you will see one another again. Hugs, kisses, love and prayers coming your way, Mike and Tara!!!!

While there are no words to express it and no way to imagine what you feel I am deeply saddened by your loss of your beloved Son to Heaven. May his smile shine down upon us all to bring comfort to you as Family and us as friends. Mitchell had a great impact on all of us as he courageously battled for each second to stay with his loved ones a little longer. I will always miss his smile at the rinks but never ever forget it. #18foreverstrong

I didn't know Mitchell personally, but I followed his story as Mr Bruce updated with Mitchell 's mother's updates. I'm so sorry for his family's and friends' loss. He sounds like he was a one in a million kid. May those who knew him find comfort in the peace he now has. No longer in pain, no longer suffering. I'm one of few touched by this young man's fight. The world has lost a champion. Mitchell was a champion in every role in his life as a son, brother, grandson, friend, student, hockey player, and human being. His impact on every life that he touched is evident by the thousands of people who joined hands and hearts together to pray for him and support him in his toughest of all battles.

Each of our lives has been made stronger because of Mitchell and his incredibly brave, courageous, and faithful family. Our hands and hearts continue to be united to love and support Tara, Mike, Carson and all of the friends and family who loved Mitchell so much.

For me, it was truly an honor and a privilege to be his teacher at Andrew Jackson School. Mitchell's quest for excellence in the classroom, on the ice and athletic fields, and most especially his relationships with those who knew and loved him made him so special. His spirit and goodness were unique and a direct reflection of his family and all of those who loved him.

Now in the light with our Heavenly Father, the silhouette of his courage and love is the shadow we now stand in. With his final sunset, the echo of his Mitchell's spirit now lives in all of us. One more sprint down the ice before the buzzer, a little longer to study to get it right, a kind word to a stranger, or the acceptance of another who is not like you. Perhaps it's a respectful yes ma'am or no sir, finding the fight within when you want to give up, or an extra hug for your family even though they know you love them.

Although difficult for us, his final battle gave him the greatest reward of all. So many people loved him so much and will miss him dearly. We will continue to embrace and love the Mielnik family and live our own lives worthy of the love Mitchell shared and the lessons he taught.
