Teresa Louise Burton Roberts

Teresa Roberts Obituary

ROBERTS, Teresa Louise Burton Of Signal Mountain, TN, died on March 18, 2008, two weeks before her 92nd birthday. She was born on March 31, 1916 in Nashville to Lillie May Armstrong and Andrew Mizell Burton, founder of the Life and Casualty Insurance Company of Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Lillian, Mizella, and Jean; her brothers, Nelson, Larimore, and Robert; and her grandsons, Craig Morrison and Blake Roberts. Louise was a life-long learner and reader, a patron of the arts, a liberal Democrat, and a civil rights advocate. She studied painting with George Cress, Alan White, and Tib Shumacker. She exhibited at the Plum Nelly Arts and Crafts Show at Rising Fawn, the Next Door Gallery, and in juried shows at the Hunter Gallery of American Art. She studied philosophy and religion at UTC when she was in her 60's and 70's. She closely followed the news and politics and was a devoted fan of Tiger Woods until the day she passed away. She had hope that Barack Obama could bring about "change we can believe in." She is survived by her children, Patricia Morrison of Exeter, NH; Bill Roberts of Palm City, FL; Larry and Marty Roberts of Signal Mountain; Alex and Priscilla Roberts of Signal Mountain; and ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Our special thanks to her personal trainers Lee and Jersey, and to her nurse and symphony companion, Karen. A private celebration of her life will be held with family and close friends on March 29. Those wishing to honor Louise may make a contribution to a favorite charity or to BarackObama.com. Condolences may be sent at www.heritagefh.com. Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe, GA, 706-866-5400
