Ashland City, TN

Virginia Boyd Gibbs, 83 of Ashland City passed away Saturday January 21, 2017 at the Tri Star Centennial Hospital in Nashville. Virginia was born May 12, 1933, to the late Jessie C. Boyd and George Bryant Boyd. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Bennie E. Gibbs, two sons Larry and Mike Gibbs, four brothers, James, Clarence, Jewel and Tony Gibbs, and two sisters Katie Darrow and Edith Hargrove. Virginia was a very caring person who took pride in her community and her family. With her husband Bennie, they built Gibbs Lumber Company into a successful business in downtown Ashland City. She was a sports enthusiast and led a very active life playing and coaching softball and basketball, bowling in numerous leagues, and traveling. Virginia was very devoted to the Ashland City Church of Christ where she was a member. Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Bo) Elliott of Clarksville, two daughters-in-law, Cathie and Rene Gibbs of Ashland City, two sisters, Nellie Perry of Ashland City and Lillie B. Davidson of Ridge Top, two brothers Douglas (Francis) Boyd of Ashland City and Jim (Joyce) Boyd of Clarksville. She has eight grandchildren, Stacy Strobl of Franklin, Ross (Jacqlyn) Elliott of Clarksville, Alicia Parchman, Michael (Heather) Gibbs of Ashland City, Chase Gibbs of Clarksville, Grant (Gina) Gibbs of Ashland City, Landon (Christi) Gibbs and Peyton (Kellye) Gibbs of Nashville and ten great grandchildren Brady and Tyler Strobl, Oliver Elliott, Hunter, Harliann and Hoss Gibbs, Dylan and Preston Parchman and Jack and Olivia Gibbs. Special recognition is given to her friend and care giver, Ester Cody and her loving niece Wanda Bilbry. Visitation for Virginia Gibbs will be at the Boyd Funeral Home 101 Elizabeth St. Ashland City 37015 on Monday January 23rd from 3:00-7:00pm and on Tuesday from 10:00 till time of service at 11:00am with Bro. Drake Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Bearwallow Church of Christ Cemetery in Ashland City. Pallbearers will be Ross Elliott, Michael Gibbs, Chase Gibbs, Grant Gibbs, Landon Gibbs, Peyton Gibbs, Tim Davidson and Rick Statler.
