Dr. Walter A. Bell III

Walter Bell Obituary

BELL III, Walter A. (Butch), M.D.Age 59 suddenly May 8, 2008 at his home. Respected colleague, friend and doctor to many, but to those who knew him best he was Butch Bell, daddy and husband. He spent his days doing what he loved the most.caring for others. He was a very compassionate human being who loved and cared for anyone who needed him. He is remembered lovingly for adopting anything stray, weak, or needy. If anything meant more to him than medicine, it was his six children, who adored him. He was the third generation who served the medical needs of Dickson County and surrounding areas. He was the grandson of the late Dr. Walter A. Bell, Sr. and wife Verble Ferguson Bell and the son of the late Dr. Walter A. Bell, Jr. and Mary Lou Toone Bell. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him, but his survivors find solace in the fact that he will be forever accomplishing 4 AM rounds and in a meeting with his beloved dad. He is survived by his wife, Mary G. Bell of Dickson; his children, Jason A. Bell and wife Lilia, US Air Force, S.Korea, Walter A. Bell IV of Memphis, TN, Sophie Bell and Rachel Bell, both of Dickson, Tyler Paschall of Dickson and Luke Paschall of Perkinston, MS; his mother, Mrs. Lavenia B. Bell of Dickson; his sisters, Mary Elaine Bright and her husband, Joe of Dickson and Michelle Bell Ribaric and her husband Raymond of El Sobrante, CA. Longtime friend and nurse, Shelia Haley. This man was a saint. A good male role model to me. When I was lost, he showed me what a good man does. He was kind to me.

I had signed this earlier, and for some reason it didn't get posted. I just wanted to let Butch's family and friends know that they are in the thoughts and prayers of my family. Butch was a doctor and friend to all of us, and we were proud that things were going in the direction that he wanted to go. He was a good man, and served the people of this community with a kind heart. He will be missed.

I am utterly saddened by the tragic loss of Dr. Butch. I have been a patient of his for 23 years. You have my heartfelt sympathy and will be in my thoughts and prayers. I do hope you can draw strength from being with your family and friends at this time and knowing that Dr. Butch will be missed so much and he was admired and respected by so many people unknown to so many. God Bless You and know he will be in our hearts forever.

Dr Butch....well what can I say that hasn't already been said numerous times since learning of his passing. Dr Bell was my doctor and my familes Dr for many years. He was always there for me personally and always told me exactly what I needed to hear...Even though at times I did not like what he said....A few years ago I had a family crisis come up and Butch was my confidant and friend as well as my Dr....I would have NEVER made it through the crisis without his assistance and advise.......So now I am REALLY going to take his advice and as Butch said....."LET IT GO RAY JUST LET IT GO"... So with that that said I will say GOOD BYE my friend Rest in Peace and I will see you again one day....My prayers go out to his family and to everyone that knew Butch....we will NEVER find another Dr like him and all we can ever hope for is to develop a relationship with another Dr that will be as close as we all were to Dr Butch...GOOD BYE MY FRIEND AND REST IN PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr Butch was a wonderful doctor to me. His dad brought me into this world and his dad brought my three sons into this world. I liked Dr Butch because he didn't run you into the examing room and out like a herd of cattle. He took his time listening to your concerns and he gave you back and explained with great answers. He will surely be missed by all patients and friends and family.
