Wendy BURR Obituary

BURR, Wendy Claire (McLeod)Passed away on November 1, 2011. Wendy leaves behind her devoted husband and partner of 54 years, Ian M. Burr, M.D., Ph.D.; son, Craig Burr and daughter, Karen Burr Alsheimer; daughter-in-law, Lanette Burr and son-in-law, Keith Alsheimer. She was a fun loving and doting grandmother to Colin and Kelly Alsheimer, and Ryan Burr. Wendy was a supportive friend to those who knew her. She lived life to the fullest and was a constant inspiration, counselor, and confidant to Ian during his many years of service to the Monroe-Carell Children's Hospital. Wendy volunteered her time and services to the Ronald McDonald House for many years, serving on the Board of Directors and volunteering for a variety of positions. Wendy will be deeply missed by all of those who loved and knew her. Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, November 19th at the Benton Chapel on Vanderbilt University Campus, 411 21st Avenue South at 3 p.m., to honor and celebrate her life. A reception will be held immediately following the service. In memory of Wendy and in lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to either the Monroe-Carell Jr. Vanderbilt Children's Hospital or the Ronald McDonald House.
