Catherine A. (Yorio) Marmuscak

1919 - 2016

Catherine A. (Yorio) Marmuscak, of Schenectady, New York, passed away August 24, 2016. Born June 27, 1919, in Corning, New York, to Anna (Barbaro) and Pius Yorio. Kate married Michael Marmuscak on May 29, 1948, in St. Mary's Catholic Church. They lived in Corning with their four children until her husband's retirement in 1987 whereby they moved to Lake Placid, Florida.

A graduate of Corning Free Academy, Kate was employed by Corning's First National Bank and the Western Union Telegraph Company prior to her marriage. She then spent many years at home raising their children until later when she worked alongside Dr. Vincent Sementilli, Sr. as an assistant in his dental office.

Kate loved her flower and vegetable gardens. Each year she spent the fall canning fruits and vegetables. When she wasn't gardening, she enjoyed her ceramic pottery hobby, listening to music, and baking goodies for her family. She was a friend to all who touched her life and was well loved throughout the West Third Street community. As years passed, in Florida, Kate belonged to various clubs volunteering her time to help those in need.

Surviving are daughter Elizabeth (John) Eades of Hartsville, SC; sons Thomas (Debra) Marmuscak of Corning, NY, and Gerald (Marjorie) Marmuscak of Schenectady, NY; daughter-in-law Suzanne (Michael) Marmuscak of Lake Placid, FL; her brothers Francis (Eleanor) Yorio of Greenville, S.C. and Pius (Tanis) Yorio of Penfield, NY; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Michael (2014), son Michael (2009), parents Anna and Pius Yorio, brothers Anthony and Joseph Yorio and sister Helen Woeppel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday September 12th, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, State Street, Corning, NY.

Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church cemetery immediately following the Mass.

Visitation with the family will be held at the Church prior to the Mass and after the funeral services.
