Painted Post | Ruth E. McIntosh, 91, of Absolut Care at Three Rivers, Painted Post, formerly of Woodhull, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Absolut Care at Three Rivers.
Born in Bath, NY on October 15, 1923, Ruth was the daughter of David H. and Eleanor B. Fisher Davis. She was a graduate of the former Woodhull High School. She went on to attend Keuka College following high school.
On July 17, 1945, Ruth married William T. McIntosh in Mexico, NY. Bill preceded her in death on Apr. 30, 2012. Shortly after Bill's death, Ruth moved to Emeritus Senior Living in Painted Post.
Ruth began a long career at the Ingersoll Rand Co. in Painted Post. She left there for a period of time to care for her ailing mother. Ruth and Bill owned and operated the Hornby Grocery Store from 1953 – 1963. She eventually returned to IR and retired as a shipping clerk in 1982.
Ruth was a long time member of the Woodhull United Methodist Church. She was deeply loved by all that knew her, with many acquaintances, feeling as they had been adopted as her own. She always had a smile for everyone, even when she was sick.
She was devoted to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was our "prayer warrior" and spent time daily doing this task.
Ruth is survived by her sons and daughters in law, David and Joanne McIntosh of San Antonio, TX and Paul and Cladel McIntosh of St. Tomas, Batangas, Philippines; her daughters and sons in law, Anita and Bob Fisher of Winneconne, WI and Ruth and Jack Waters of Painted Post; 14 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchild; her sister, Martha Betty Hubbard of Oswego, NY; her sister in law, Ruth Davis of Baldwinsville, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Bill, Ruth was predeceased by her parents; brother, John Davis; 2 grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 27 from 10 am to 12 noon at the First Baptist Church of Woodhull, W. Main St. Woodhull. Ruth's funeral and committal services will follow at noon with Pastor Brian Diffenbacher officiating.
Burial will be made in Woodhull Cemetery.
Memorials in Ruth's name may be made to the Community Church of Woodhull.
