William Tracey Obituary

"Mike" William P. Tracey, age 87, of Coopers Plains, NY died Friday, December 9, 2016 at Steuben Centers in Bath, NY.

Mike was born on December 10, 1928 in Corning to Patrick and Tillie (Force) Tracey. He was a graduate of Corning Free Academy and served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He was employed by Corning Glass Works as machinist and retired as a toolmaker. Mike was a member of the Corning-Painted Post Sports Hall of Fame for softball. Mike was an avid hunter and spent the past 50 winters in Florida playing softball. He and his team won the world softball championship in 2002.
He is survived by his sister, Helen (Roswell) Crozier of Painted Post; brother, Francis "Shoty" Tracey of Seattle, WA; several nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his sisters, Carole Tracey and Evelyn Carpenter.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 14th from noon until 2 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street, Corning where funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning.

Memorial donations may be made to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, 388 Upper Oakwood Avenue, Elmira, New York 14903.
