Christine Anne Kelley, 75, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, serenaded into heaven by her daughters.
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, Christine was the ninth of ten children of George and Anna (Lavery) Kelley. She cherished memories of her lively neighborhood on Hiawatha Street, puppet shows with her sister Terry, and doughnuts at Sound View. A proud first-generation college graduate, she earned her master's in social work from the University of Connecticut while raising two daughters.
Music was the heartbeat of Christine's life. A gifted singer and self-taught guitarist, she performed in several bands, shared her talents at family celebrations, and filled her home with song. It was through music that she met her husband, Andrzej Anweiler; together they hosted "musical soirées," composed songs, and raised two daughters, Alka and Julie-the loves of her life.
For more than 30 years, Christine dedicated herself to helping others as a social worker, guiding students and families through life's challenges with empathy and humor. Her creativity extended to the classroom, where she used puppets and original songs to teach children courage and kindness. Many of her former students still remember "Ms. Kelley" as a trusted mentor and friend.
Christine's love of nature, laughter, beauty, and family colored every part of her life. She found joy in skiing, gardening, and dancing with her sister Patty, and was endlessly proud of her grandchildren-Owen, Summer, Logan, and Colbie-who lit up her final years with joy.
She is survived by her daughters, Alexandra Stephens (Josh) and Julie McCary (Ryan); her sisters Terry Kelley-Coffey (Rosemary) and Patty Conz; her brother Larry Kelley (Tracy); and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, and her former husband, Andrzej.
