Bob Borland Obituary
LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at a 10:00 AM Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Bob Borland, 68, who died on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at his residence in Lafayette. Reverend David Baudoin, Executive Pastor of Crossroads Church, will officiate the services. Eulogist will be Cheryl Robicheaux.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Shirley Borland of Lafayette; two daughters, Debi Landry of Lafayette and Kim Sonnier and her husband, Brian of Carencro; son, Shawn Borland of Lafayette; two brothers, Richard Borland and his wife, Alice and Thomas Borland and his wife, Carrie all of Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren, Logan Sonnier, Hannah Landry, Zoe Landry, Jackson Sonnier and Luke Sonnier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Regina Borland; and one brother, Smiley Borland.
A native of New Kensington, Pennsylvania and resident of Lafayette since 1972, Mr. Borland was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. He served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army. Mr. Borland loved woodworking, and attending his grandson's athletic events. He loved sports and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers whether they won or loss. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his dogs (boxers) he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pallbearers will be Debi Landry, Shawn Borland, Brian Sonnier, Logan Sonnier, Cody Bourque and Cheryl Robicheaux.
The family requests that visitation be observed on Monday, February 7, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 from 8:00 AM until time of services, at Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Location.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. Borland's name to St. Jude's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105 or the Louisiana ASPCA, 1700 Mardi Gras Boulevard, New Orleans, LA. 70114.
