Gloria Crayton Obituary
New Orleans - GLORIA THERSA 'MA DEAR' CRAYTON received her Angel Wings on Good Friday April 19, 2019. She was 86 years old and was a native of New Orleans La., and a resident of Lafayette. Daughter of the late Simmon Bibbons and Mamie Young Bernard. Beloved mother of Francine Dixon, Clarence (Almeda) Jordan Jr., Shannon Jordan Mahogany, Quentrell (Savonda) Jordan, Tracy Jordan, Troylyn (Alfred) Jefferson, Reginald (Delisia) Crayton and the late Darryl Jordan. Sister of Bertrand (Nathalie) Bernard and the late Theresa Harris. Godmother of Pamela Harris Gray. She is also survived by her extended daughter Dr. Jacqueline Clark, 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, her beloved and faithful dog Sport Bentley, several nieces, nephew, cousins, friends and church family.
Relatives and friends of the family, are invited to attend the Funeral services on Saturday April 27, 2019 at St. Peter Baptist Church 503 North Washington St. Lafayette La. beginning at 10A.M. The visitation will begin at 9A.M. Pastor Carl Sonnier will officiate. A second funeral service will be held on Monday April 29, 2019 at First Free Mission Baptist Church 1821 Egania St. New Orleans La. at 10A.M. The visitation will begin at 9A.M. Pastor Johnny Jones Jr. will officiate. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery New Orleans La.

Grandma you are missed it's been 3 years now. I was pregnant and I remember why my so. Ne er out on time it was because you held hi. Up by playing with him. But I think God you seen him and let him go. We miss you Grandma your daughter my mom misses you and Shannon and I knew yall enjoying yall time up there. We live you and miss you.

Mama 2day made 1yr (365 days)..yea my heart is broken since u left. Yea this baby still cries. My heart is full. Mama I miss u I love u. I thank God everyday 4 him & everyday 4 giving us the best mama. Yea we had our ups & down but through u I learned how 2 b strong when I want 2 b that little girl holding onto ur leg not letting go bcuz I was safe protected by u. Thank u 4 bringing me & learning about God. Not a day goes by I trust him & as I would say "give it God& leave it there, when u give something to GOD leave it there & don't go back & pick it up" I did worry when u left me but TRUSTING GOD he keeps making a way even when I'm ready to give. When I cry a lil bird come out (I thinks it u) letting me know I'm not alone. In HEAVEN I can see u peeping in all ur children's rooms & houses making sure we're all inside. Thank u 4 the woman u r. You taught me so much & an amazing woman (mama). I no I cry so much but I miss us sitting across from ea other at the table reading our prayers, drinking our coffee, splitting a muffin. O font places we went it's not the same without u. Mama I won't talk so much but as I would say "I love you & take God with u." Funny I hear myself saying "hey babe what cha say" or I catch myself sitting out on the patio w/my hand on my head & chair rest. U did well & was always there 4 us. Sport misses u as well. Love you mama

Momma I so miss you. I know I cry everyday I just want you back. I know I'm selfish like you always said God would wrong to take a loved one from them & not from you. Yes you are so right but does that make it better for me, right now it doesn't. I pray to God for strength. I look across the table you are not there. I see your prayer books & are not reading them. Momma I feel so lost so helpless. You were my ride or die. I know it time it will get easier but right now I can't see. I love you with all my heart. Mama I just wanted you to know I'll think of you everyday. As Whitney Houston said. I will always love you. As you would say I will look for you in broad daylight with a candle. So true I'm looking for you but I also look up and see you peeping thru the clouds looking down on each of us. Comforting us in our moments, sharing our sorrows & cheering our joys.

Mama this is our 1st Mother's Day apart. I can't celebrate because you are not hear. I know you're in heaven looking down. You & Nanny celebrated both your 1st Mother's day with granny. We all cried mama you were the monarch who held this family together. I'm wearing 1 of your nightgown for my sense of security & feeling your closeness. I miss you Mama & love you so much. Mama, What can I say except I miss you so much. Mama my heart is hurting & broken. I try to be strong and hide the pain. What do I do mama? What do I do? We did so much, we shared so much. Now I'm alone. Who would have thought. But we trust God as you always said when God says it's over his job is finished & complete. I thank you. I thank God for you because someone's mother left before you, some mother was delivery a baby who became an instant angel. I had 59yrs with you. Mama when you left that afternoon all I kept remembering (sad but glad) mama left on Good Friday. Jesus was crucified at 3pm you left at 3:21pm. I have joy because you heard all your children voices saying their goodbyes & how much we all loved you. I feel good because when you left you had a peaceful transition. I feel good & I can imagine the day you left. You putting on your white robe when you heard the angel say " Gloria Theresa Crayton" you saying " here I am" God saying "Come get your crown - from labor to rewards" " Job well done!" Mama your job is done. You are with the King, granny, nanny, & Darryl. When I see a rose or a butterfly I know you are around. So I better start looking because I know in my heart you will always be around. I LOVE YOU. - FOREVER IN MY HEART! Oh I forgot now I'll get a tattoo (smile) (just kidding) Sport misses you to.
