LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Pius X Catholic Church for Karl James Braquet, age 51, who passed away Sunday, November 4, 2012 in Sunset.

Interment will be in Fountain Memorial Gardens in Lafayette at a later date. The Rev. Steve LeBlanc pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church will officiate at the services. Readers will be Evelyn LeBlanc and Mallory Pontiff. Giftbearers will be Jamie Prejean and Kim Pontiff.

Mr. Braquet was a native of Carencro and had been a resident of Lafayette since 1989. He was employed with Bernhard Mechanical Contractors in Lafayette for many years. Karl was a loving husband and father who lived for his family. He was loved by all he met. Karl was an excellent cook who enjoyed feeding his family and friends. He loved his family "Big Big Like The Sky". Mr. Braquet was a parishioner of St. Pius Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Vicki Jackson Braquet of Lafayette; parents, Donald James Braquet and the former Shirley Domingue of Carencro; two daughters, Kelli Lynn Braquet and Lori Blair Braquet both of Lafayette; one sister, Kim Braquet Pontiff and her husband, Darrell, of Carencro; one sister-in-law, Jeri Jackson Ward and her husband, Jason, of Humble, TX; three nieces, Jamie Pontiff Prejean and her husband, Blair, Krista Pontiff and Mallory Pontiff; one nephew, Scott Pontiff and his wife, Stacey; four great nieces and nephews; best friend, Dwayne Broussard of Lafayette; mother-in-law, Nancy Neil Falke of Lafayette; and father-in-law, James T. Jackson and his wife, Sheri, of Conroe, TX.

He was preceded in death by two infant brothers, Daniel and Keith Braquet; and one infant sister, Anne Braquet.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Pallbearers will be Dwayne Broussard, Darrell Pontiff, Jason Ward, Luke Francebois, Scott Pontiff and David Brasseux. Honorary pallbearers will be Blair Prejean, Jimmie Brasseaux, Paul Breaux, Raymond Brasseux and Cleve Foreman.
