Michael "Mike" Legnon

New Iberia - Funeral Services were conducted for Mr. Michael "Mike" Bennett Legnon, age 62, at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness-1401 Marjie Street, New Iberia, LA 70560. Interment will be held privately at a later date.

A native of Franklin and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Legnon passed away at 9:05 pm on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Mike as he was affectionately known was a Master Musician, who could play numerous instruments. He was well known in the Acadiana area for his jingles written for radio and television, including Wednesday's Child and Cajun Heartland State Fair. He was a very kind man who often volunteered his time entertaining the residents at several area nursing homes and through his Christian Ministry at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness New Iberia South.

Mike was employed for more than 20 years as a Draftsman, currerntly employed at Bagwell Energy. He will be missed dearly by his family, friends, and coworkers.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years Jackie Etie Legnon of New Iberia; one son, Michael Brandon Legnon and wife Stacey of Lakeland, LA; two daughters, Amanda Comeaux of New Iberia and Melissa Cantrell and husband Shay of New Iberia; three granddaughters, Parker Jayne Legnon, Carmyn Jade Comeaux and Lillie Rae Cantrell; Step son; Joshua Joseph Delahoussaye of Lewisville, TX; very special brother in law, Randy Paul Etie of New Iberia; one brother, Roy Donovan Hebert and wife Sally of Centerville and one sister, Maxine Legnon Bourque and husband Bill of New Iberia; and his adopted family, his mama Glenda Vines; and his sisters, Wendy Vines and Jodie Incardona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Bennett and Lillie Mae Prejean Legnon.
