Robert "Bob" Holleman

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 at an 11:00 AM Baptist Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Robert "Bob" Holleman, 84, who died on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Luther Burney, of First Baptist Church in Lafayette, will officiate the services. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "How Great Thou Art," "Amazing Grace," and "Battle Hymn of the Republic."

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 18 years, Perry L. Holleman; one daughter, Dottie Holleman; two sisters, Kay Sallee and Joan Whiting; one brother, Lynn Holleman; two step-children, Kim Plauché and her husband, Michael and Kristie Golden and her husband, Robert; and six grandchildren, Annie Holleman and Emily Holleman-Willis and her husband, Beau, Evan Plauché, Claire Plauché, Jack Golden, and Matthew Golden

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thornton and Ellenor Iberson Holleman; his first spouse, Dot Cox Holleman; and one son, Bobby Holleman.

Robert T. "Bob" Holleman was born in San Diego, California and was a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana for most of his life. He was a Veteran of the military, proudly serving his country as a Captain in the US Army. Mr. Holleman attended LSU in Baton Rouge, where he played football and ran track for the LSU Tigers in the 1950's. He graduated from Centenary College in Shreveport with a degree in Geology and became an independent geologist. He served as Chairman of the Board for Hibernia National Bank, was a member of the Board of Directors for LGMC, and was also President of the Petroleum Club. Mr. Holleman was also an instrumental figure in creating Lafayette Crime Stoppers. He enjoyed hunting, playing golf, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

Pallbearers will be Michael Plauché, Robert Golden, Jack Golden, Matt Golden, Beau Willis and Evan Plauché. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Holleman, Mark Miller, Marshall Montgomery, and the guys of the "Round Table" at the Petroleum Club.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 9:00 AM until time of services.

The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses, Dr.'s and staff of Lafayette General Medical Center ICU Unit, and LGMC Cancer Center, for their kindness, compassion, and gentle care give to Mr. Holleman and his family during their time of need.
