Barbara Aucoin Harris, affectionately known as "Maw-Maw", died peacefully at home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on May 16th at the age of 78. Barbara was born October 16th, 1938 in Baton Rouge. She was an incredibly hard worker. Barbara loved working in her garden and spending time with her family. She never missed a softball game, dance recital, track meet, or any of the numerous activities of her children and grandchildren. Barbara was a school bus driver. She retired from East Baton Rouge Parish School System after 37 years of service, and was a member of the School Bus Operators Association. She loved being a driver for the Catholic High football team and enjoyed spending time with her friends at the games. Barbara is survived by her children: Linda Wasiloski and her husband Pat, Susan Montgomery, Sarah Harris, Sharon Mar Castro and her husband Chino; her grandchildren: Theresa Wasiloski, Christin Rills and her husband Patrick, April McDonald and her husband Scott, Stephanie Grennan and her husband Michael, Brittney Aucoin and her husband Matthew, Jessica Wasiloski, Tiffany Harelson, and Chandler Montgomery; great-grandchildren: Gabe, Connor, Samantha, Chloe, Benjamin, Shane, and Sloane, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Minnie. Barbara is also survived by her aunt Rita Grant, who was like a sister to her, and her husband Ted, as well as her siblings Ann Alexander, Ray Aucoin Jr., Cliff Aucoin, Larry Schelter, Steven Schelter, and Debbie Clemons. Barbara was preceded in death by her grandparents Joseph Leslie Aucoin and Rosa Keller Aucoin, and her parents Ray Emile Aucoin Sr. and Kathleen W. Schelter. Barbara was a kindhearted and loving soul who was a mother to more than just her four daughters, and Maw-Maw to many more. She will be dearly missed. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, on Friday evening from 5pm until 9pm, and will resume on Saturday morning at 9am until funeral service at 12pm, with Rev. Don Cottrill officiating. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.

Sorry for your loss. I met Mrs. Barbara when I was a senoir in high school (1981). She was a very nice person and helped me a lot when we were working at A & P at that time. My God bless your family.

Met Mrs Barbara when I became a EBRP school bus driver. Drove football games with her and 7 other drivers for Catholic High. Those were fun times. She loved Catholic High Bears. She was a awesome, sweet, caring, loving and helpful person and a bus driver.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
