Billie Dixon Obituary

Billie Dell Smith Dixon, 82, died 12/5/2021 in Nashville, TN. She was born 12/27/1938 to W.A. (Bill) and Vondell Smith. She graduated as Valedictorian from Central H.S. and attended Northwestern State University where she received her Registered Nurse's license. The majority of her career was spent as an operating room nurse where she specialized in open heart surgery. She was an active member of AORN and retired from Ochsner Medical Center. She attended Greenwell Springs Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother-in-law, Frank Harrison Harvey. Survivors include her daughters, Lahri and Lynn Gentry of Terrell, TX and Cristi and Scott Gilbert of Franklin, TN, granddaughter, Hayley Williams of Nashville, TN, sister, Imojean Harvey of Las Vegas, NV, niece, Tara Harvey and Bill Barrios of Las Vegas, NV, and special cousins, Sonya Womack and Janice Jones. Billie will be remembered for her loving, generous spirit and her incredible sense of humor and fun. There will be a private family memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to foundation.aorn.org.

Sending our condolences in the passing of your loved one. You all have been a loving family caring for Bille which gave much comfort to my friend, (her sister) Imogene Harvey. May all the sweet memories give you peace.

I worked with Billie at the MCBR many yrs ago. She was a wonderful spirited lady and a great OR nurse. I still have a special Christmas gift she gave me in 1996 and I think of her every yr at this time. Sending prayers to her family.
