Jeanne E. Gerrior

1938 - 2017

BELLINGHAM - Jeanne E. (Menard) Gerrior, 79, of Bellingham, MA and Narragansett, RI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Rhode Island Hospital with her loving family by her side. She is the beloved wife for 59 years of Charles E. Gerrior. Born in Woonsocket, RI on September 18, 1938, the daughter of the late Camille and Loretta (Bilodeau) Menard. She is the loving mother of three sons, Glenn E. Gerrior and his wife, Jeanne of Bellingham, MA, Robert E. Gerrior and his wife, Melissa of Bellingham, MA, and Kennith E. Gerrior and his wife, Maria of Woonsocket, RI. She leaves her cherished seven grandchildren, Arianna Gerrior-Stien and her husband, Corey, Hannah, Kahley, Sean, Jack, Daniel, and Sara Gerrior and two step-grandchildren, William and Torie Fenoff. She is the sister of Robert Menard and his wife, Raymode of Blackstone, MA and the step-daughter of the late Maurice Gauthier.
In 1977 together with her husband, Jeanne was co-founder of Charlie's Tire & Service Center Inc. and served as Vice President, Treasurer and Office Manager. She previously worked at Rhode Island Hospital Trust Main Street and Social Street Branches, and the Bellingham Tax Collector Office. She was a National Honor Society Member Class of 1956 at St. Clare High School, Woonsocket and attended St. Joseph School of Nursing and Johnson & Wales, Woonsocket branch.
Jeanne was a member of the Bellingham Business Association and received their 1991 Citizen of the Year award. She was active member of the former Assumption Parish and served as President and Secretary of the Parish Council, taught Religious Education, volunteer of their CYO, bingo and Cub Scout Leader Troop 18. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Narragansett and St. Blaise Church, Bellingham.
Her favorite charities were the Whole in the Wall Gang Camp of Paul Newman where she crocheted hundreds of colored afghans for terminally ill children, collected clothes, shoes, and toys to be sent to the Edmundite Missions in Selma, Alabama for 25 years and the Jonnycake Center of Pease Dale, RI where she collected material donations for their thrift store to help students and families in need.
Jeanne was an avid traveler and loved cruising. She spent many winter months in Sarasota, Bradenton, Manatee and Palmetto, FL, for many years, and was a resident of Scarborough Beach, Narragansett, RI since 1987. She spent many years at her parents summer home at Lake Hiawatha, Blackstone where she enjoyed swimming and boating. Her love of the water was a peacefully and happy part of her life. Devoted to her family, Jeanne will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Friday, October 6th at 9:00AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Blaise Church, 1158 So. Main St., Bellingham. Interment will follow at St. Jean Batiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are on Thursday, October 5th from 5PM to 8PM at the funeral home. Donations in memory of Jeanne E.
