Christopher Moore Obituary

It is with great loss to this world that Christopher Douglass Moore went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 25th. "A person of many friends leads only to ruin but there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother." (Proverbs 18:24). This verse personifies the person of Christ, and it describes how my brother lived his life. Like no other, he loved others for Christ with "reckless abandon." Chris was born June 27, 1963. His struggle for life began right out of the womb. Because of Rh incompatibility, before the days of Rhogam, he had to be exchange transfused. He struggled with health issues all of his life. At twelve years of age, he rode a bus every school day from Brussels to Rixensart, Belgium and was sick every day. At sixteen years of age, he went to boarding school at Baylor School for Boys in Chattanooga, Tennessee and had to return to Baton Rouge after a year because his Crohn's Disease nearly took his life. After this he still went on to Louisiana State University and graduated. He was an active member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and epitomized the humor of "Animal House" in many ways. His life drastically changed though in his early twenties when he came to Christ. His passion for the rest of his life would become loving others for Jesus. Chris knew he was rough around the edges but he always pointed others to Christ, including leading his own brother to the Lord. He served as a short term missionary on project in the Philippines and in Thailand. He was an avid sailor and sailed to Key West from New Orleans but always wanted to sail the "Whitbread Classic." He was a production assistant in the movie "Passion Fish" and many TV productions and had a screen shot in "Everybody's All American." All of this he accomplished with severe back pain, Crohn's Disease and depression. None of these things meant anything to him compared to loving others for Christ. As imperfect as this world is, Chris knew that he, too, was imperfect, but now perfected in Christ, he is completely without spot and blemish and without tears!! He is survived by his mother and father, Marion Ross Munson and James Garner Moore III, his two brothers and their spouses, James Garner Moore IV (Lisa) and Dr. Jonathan Ross Moore, Sr. (Kim Rene). He was especially proud of his niece and nephew, Lily Grace Moore and Jonathan Ross Moore, Jr.. Also survived by his aunt and uncle Ross & Donna Munson, and their children, Paige Bates and Robyn Zartman, as well as his previous wife, Shay Gregorie, with whom they operated a specialty wedding cake and pie bakery. Chris was a lifetime member at First Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge, where memorials may be made for church missions. A Funeral Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in the Dunham Chapel on Friday March 17th at 2 pm with visitation beforehand at 1pm. A private burial with the family will be held following at the Young Family Cemetery in Zachary, LA.
