Clyde Rupert Meyers, Jr.

Clyde Rupert Meyers, Jr., a resident of Denham Springs, was born July 23rd, 1924 in Baton Rouge and died on Monday July 17, 2017 in Baton Rouge, after a brief illness and just a few days shy of his 93rd birthday. He was raised in Baton Rouge and attended LSU. Clyde proudly served in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater, onboard the USS Alhena AKA-9 as a Higgins Boat driver. He met the love of his life, Jean, at an LSU dance and they were married 69 years. He and Jean loved to travel, visiting all 50 states and numerous foreign countries. His personal favorite was Germany during Oktoberfest! He loved music and learned to play the piano and harmonica by ear. Clyde loved golf, camping, snow skiing, dancing with Jean, and they were masters of the jitterbug. He loved swimming and training many lifeguards in the Baton Rouge and Denham Springs area. Clyde was a huge LSU fan and worked as a marshal supervisor at Tiger Stadium for over 20 years. He was a member of the Baton Rouge Navy Club Ship 661, FMCA, Cruisin Cajuns, Knights of Columbus Council 6326, and was very involved with Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, serving as a lector and Eucharistic minister for many years. Clyde retired from Exxon Chemical after 36 years in the instrument department. He loved nature, the outdoors, his cats, and lived life to its fullest! Clyde is survived by his children Jan Meyers Wilkerson, Glynn Meyers Rubin, Lynn Meyers Fogg and husband Kenny, Catherine Meyers Douglas and husband John, Kerry Meyers and wife Jenny, Cindy Meyers Hollier, Dennis Meyers and wife Kelli. Grandchildren Jennifer Waddick, Shannon Rubin, Suzanne Moss, Kevin Fogg, Kelly Regueira, Kori Juban, Sarah Rathbun, Anna Douglas, Dustin Meyers, Scott Meyers, Rachel Brewster, Callie Geier, Trent Meyers, and Luke Meyers, as well as 20 great-grandchildren; also survived by sisters June Bowen, Lila Carbo, and brother Tommy Meyers. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents Clyde Meyers, Sr and Hazel Thomas Meyers, wife Jean Soulier Meyers, brothers Edward Earl Meyers and James Lawrence Meyers. Visitation will be at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs, LA on Thursday, July 20th from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue Friday July 21st at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs beginning at 9:30 am. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am.
