Dr. Fonte was a great surgeon who performed several major surgeries on me. I also had the honor and privilege of seeing him perform numerous surgeries while I worked at Lane. The “old surgery crew” got together about a year and a half ago and I cherished the time I got to spend with him on that afternoon. My prayers go out to Jeanne, Dana and his entire family.

Loved this man for the wonderful beautiful person he was. He touched my life as a doctor coworker and friend. Many fond memories and some great laughs !!! Once he had planted a vacant lot next to an apartment building in baker (many years ago) with nothing but wildflowers he made a path of stepping stones through the middle of it so you could stand and be surrounded in beauty, he was always making something beautiful out of nothing !! He will be greatly missed!!

I knew Don for fifty-five years. He was a comet, burning brightly for most of that time.He was exuberant, generous and had numerous enthusiasms and ,yes ,he could be exasperating and wonderful at the same time.I loved him and I will miss him.I wished that he could have taught me to be a blacksmith, book collector and auto mechanic while being an orthopedic surgeon. What a guy!

Kathleen, Patti and I are so sorry to hear of Don's passing, but are happy that he is truly at peace. As the Big Book says, "We are sure God wants us to be happy, joyous, and free. We cannot subscribe to the belief that this life is a vale of tears, though it once was just that for many of us."

Our prayers are only for you and the family because Don is now happy, joyous and free from the earthly constraints that took away his vibrant and beautiful mind.

May the God of Grace and Peace give you comfort as you mourn his loss.

We love you and miss seeing you!

Donald was a tremendous asset to the Zachary community. A fine physician and a friend to be remembered fondly. Had great conversations with him regarding political interests we shared. Sincerest condolences to his family and community. He will be missed. ♥
