George H. Sexton Jr.

George H. Sexton Jr., passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Ollie Steele Nursing Home in Baton Rouge. He was 97 years old. George was a native of Grosse Tete and resident of Baton Rouge. He retired from Louisiana State University Chemistry Department. George was a US Army Air Corp Veteran. Visitation will be at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baton Rouge on Friday, April 26th, from 10 a.m. until recitation of the rosary at 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Randy Cuevas, at 12 p.m. A private burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Rosedale, LA. George is survived by his children, Ellen Parker and her husband Terry of Covington, and George Sexton III and wife Mila of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Joel, Pam (Mike), Patricia (Tobias), Christian, Caroline (Michael); six great-grandchildren, Whitney, Ethan (Mallory), Miriana, Rosalie, MaryMichael and Charles. George was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Ethel Reulet Sexton; his parents, George Sexton Sr and Mary Young Sexton Linder; and a brother, Huey Sexton. Pallbearers will be Christian Sexton, Michael Batsche, Michael Alker, George Sexton III, Joe Zachary and Lester May. Honorary pallbearers will be Tobias Simmerl and Ethan Garnett. George was a founder and charter member of the Baton Rouge Boat Club and Founder of the Baton Rouge Radio Control Club.
