Gerard C. "Jerry" Oncale

Gerard "Jerry" C. Oncale, 83, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Labadieville, passed away on October 1, 2023. A visitation will be held in his honor on Friday, October 6, 2023, at St. Philomena Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Jane Gros Oncale; daughter, Angela M. Oncale; two granddaughters, Abbie B. Bourg (Dustin) and Aimee B. Landry (Brandon); one great-granddaughter, Caroline Jane Landry, two great-grandsons, Oliver James Bourg and Patrick John Landry; sister-in-law, Patrice Lasseigne Oncale; niece, Lori O. Peters (Geoffrey); nephew, Byron J. Oncale (Candace); great-nieces, Abbigail C. Duplantis, and Katherine Nealie Peters; great-nephews, Jaxon Oncale, Rhett Oncale, Hudson Peters, and Luke Peters. He is preceded in death by his parents, C.L. "Jero" Oncale, Jr. and Joyce Landry Oncale, and brothers, James C. Oncale and Neal J. Oncale. Jerry was a lifelong parishioner of St. Philomena Catholic Church in Labadieville. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Labadieville Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Chief for 13 years. He enjoyed fishing and skiing on Lake Verret, cooking at the camp, Mardi Gras, and spending time with family, especially with his "grands and great-grands." He loved going out to eat with his wife Jane of 62 years. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Landry's Funeral Home, Inc., is in charge of arrangements.
