Gerard F. "Jerry" Zimmerman Sr.

Gerard F. Zimmerman, Sr., known as "Jerry", passed away peacefully at his home in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi on Monday, January 22, 2024 at the age of 76. Jerry was born in New Orleans, former resident of Plaquemine for many years where he raised his family, and current resident of Bay St. Louis, MS after retiring. He was an Air Force Veteran and retired Senior Lab Tech. Visitation will be at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine on Tuesday, January 30, from 8 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., celebrated by Rev. Jerry Martin. Burial will be in Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary at 1 p.m., conducted by Rev. Lamar Partin. Jerry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Elizabeth Lorio Zimmerman; their three children, Camille Zimmerman Twigg and partner Mickey Reilley, Gerard F. Zimmerman Jr. and wife Jaime Hebert Aillet Zimmerman, and Kurt G. Zimmerman and wife Jennifer Medina Zimmerman; eleven grandchildren, Connor Twigg and spouse Andy Vega, Noah, Grayson, Rylie and Dominic Twigg, John Aillet and fiancée Bailee Oubre, Logan, Ashlynn, Liesl, Ian and Lucia Zimmerman; a brother, Robert "Bobby" L. Zimmerman Jr. and wife Gaynne Binder Zimmerman; three nieces, Rebecca Howery, Victoria Swanson and Gaynne Georgina Zimmerman. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Louis and Georgina Smith Zimmerman. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice in Gulfport, MS.
