Howard Wascom Obituary

Howard Charles Wascom Jr. (Bubba) born February 18, 1944, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on June 30, 2021. He was a longtime resident of Central, LA. He was also a proud graduate of Istrouma High School, class of 1962. Bubba was employed as an electrician (I & E technician) at Ethyl Corporation for 21 years then retired from James River/Tembec after 21 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Bankston Wascom who he loved and cherished dearly, his three sons, Woodrow Emile Wascom (Woody) and his wife Stacy, Matthew Aaron Wascom (Matt) and his wife Gena and Howard Charles Wascom, III and his wife Melanie. He has 10 grandchildren: Mason and his wife Tira, Alexis, Darin, Mallory, Jacob, Brooklyn, Hunter, Cade, Macy and Reis, as well as 1 great grandchild William. Bubba is also survived by his 3 siblings, a sister Barbara Lane and the late Jim Dickey, brother Craig Wascom and his wife April and sister Heidi and the late Windy Simpson. He was preceded in death by his parents Howard Wascom Sr. and Johnny Wascom and in-laws, Clay and Bessie Bankston. Bubba was an avid LSU fan, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed and was actively involved in his children and grandchildren's sporting activities. He was a vivid storyteller and we always knew a portion of them were true. The love Bubba had for his work and school friends was unwavering. He cherished and loved each and every one of them more than they could ever know. Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. on Friday, July 2, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and will resume on Saturday, July 3, 2021 from 9:00 AM until services at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
