Josephine Sherman Obituary

Josephine Sherman, affectionately known as "Jo", passed away on December 27, 2022, with her family at her side. She was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on June 26, 1964. She will be deeply missed by her husband; John G Sherman, children; John G. Sherman JR, Jade Sherman, and Kajhana Williams; her siblings; Paula Richard (Craig), Caren Richard, Cheryl Davis, and Rudolph V. Richard Jr (Darlene), all of Baton Rouge. She will also be missed by her Nieces and Nephews; Roycha' Richard, Rudolph Richard III, Joseph Prince Richard, and great nieces; Ryleigh Noel Brandon and Layla Deanora Williams. Also cherishing her memories are a host of other close relatives and friends. At an early age, Josephine accepted Christ and was baptized at the St. Paul Catholic Church and was a member of Jubilee Christian Center she was a proud 1982 graduate of Capitol High School. She attended Southern University and was a member of the Jaguar Nation. She remained a loyal and devoted employee in finance, at the Hancock Bank and Credit Union. The last 15 years of her life were spent working as a paraprofessional in the School System at Capitol Friendship High, Madison Prep and CSAL. She was preceded in death by her children, Murphy Batiste, Jr., and Janae Batiste, her parents, Rudolph V. Richard Sr., and Willie Belle Richard, father and mother-in-law, Tom, and Cora Sherman, one brother-in-law, Albert Sherman and one sister-in law, Alpha "Dean" S. Young. Visitation will be held Friday January 6, 2023, 4p-7p at MJR Friendly Service Funeral Home 7803 Florida Blvd. Denham Springs, LA; Celebration of Life, Saturday January 7, 2023, Viewing 9a-10a Jubilee Christian Center Church 14595 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA 70819; Interment; Green Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park 9595 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA 70815 Immediately following the funeral.

My sincerest condolences to the Richard/Sherman family. I knew of her family when we attended St. Paul's Catholic church. I really got to know her better and Jade at the beauty salon they use to go to. She had a wonderful spirit and great person to talk to. She will be missed.
