Leonard Earl "Buddy" Roberts Sr.

1929 - 2024

Leonard Earl "Buddy" Roberts, Sr. passed away peacefully with family by his side at West Towne Assisted Living on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the age of 94. He was a retired district sales manager with State National Life Insurance, resident and native of Port Allen, LA. Visitation will be held at Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 5 to 9pm and at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Brusly on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 9am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, celebrated by Father Arun John. Entombment will follow at St. John the Baptist Church Cemetery, Brusly. Buddy is survived by his sons, Leonard "Bit" Roberts, Jr. and wife Rebecca "Lynn", Curt Roberts and wife Kim, and Eric Roberts and wife Charlotte; stepson, Frankie O'Neil and wife Marsha; grandchildren, Wendy Roberts O'Brien and husband Ed, Tali Roberts, Aaron Roberts, Cameron Roberts, Brooke Dupuy and Ashley Dupuy and husband Shaun Smith; great grandchildren, Mason and McKenna O'Brien, Kensley Worthington, Presley Meyers, Collin Haley, Coby, Carson and Creed Smith, and Jaxon Holmes; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his first wife, Aunjal Rhea Liliedahl Roberts; second wife, Verna May Kirkland O'Neil Roberts; son, Mark "Mickey" Roberts; parents, Julius "Jack" and Agnes Genevieve Melancon Roberts; and sisters, Carmen Goldman and Genevieve Barthel Tregre. Buddy was past president of Port Allen Rotary, member of Promotion and Preservation of Iberville, AARP Local Chapter of Plaquemine, charter member of West Baton Rouge Genealogical Society, and member of St. John the Baptist Church. He was a past member of Boy Scout Troop 38, charter member of Port Allen Jaycees, and tour guide for the Plaquemine Locks.
