Lloyd Joseph Hidalgo Sr.

A retired Louisiana State Police trooper, he died at 5:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at his residence in Donaldsonville. He was 82 and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Asian-Pacific Theater from 1944 to 1946, for which he received three bronze stars. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville, on Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jules Catholic Church, Belle Rose, at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Jason Labbé, celebrant. Entombment in St. Jules Mausoleum. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Anna Mae Martin Hidalgo; daughter, Sandra Hidalgo Lawrence and husband Larry; two sons, Lloyd J. Jr. and wife Frances D. Hidalgo, and Dwight Hidalgo; former daughter-in-law, Cindy A. Hidalgo; sister, Marie Hidalgo Blanchard; six grandchildren, Melissa Lawrence Oswald and husband Charles, Tiffany Lawrence Guillory and husband Mark, Nicole Lawrence Townsend and husband Cory, Beth Hidalgo, Ryan Hidalgo and Brooke Hidalgo; a great-granddaughter, Makenna Townsend; and five great-grandsons, Matthew Guillory, Payton Guillory, Logan Guillory, Brandon Oswald and Mason Oswald. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Ida Causin and Olibert J. Hidalgo; sisters, Ida Mae Kern and Helen Carbo; and brothers, Arthur, Charles, Joseph, Robert and Ulyssee Hidalgo. Pallbearers will be Ryan Hidalgo, Gary Hidalgo, Dwight Hidalgo, Lloyd J. Hidalgo Jr., Larry Lawrence and Todd Hidalgo. He was a member of the Louisiana Retired State Troopers Association and a retired sugar cane farmer.
