Lois Sams Obituary

In loving memory of Lois Buchanan Sams, who was called to her eternal rest on March 23, 2024, at the age of 93. Born on February 5, 1931, in Beaumont, Texas, Lois dedicated her life to the noble calling of education, serving with distinction as a speech pathologist for the East Baton Rouge Parish. A woman of grace and dignity, Lois was an accomplished bowler, her prowess on the lanes bringing her much joy and fellowship. Her commitment to her family, friends, and community was unwavering, and her presence among us will be deeply missed. As the devoted wife of the late Wilbert Sams, who preceded her in death in 1994, Lois's love and guidance shaped the lives of her cherished daughters, Paulette Wicks and Carolyn Knox, as well as her esteemed son-in-law, Joseph Knox. Her legacy is lovingly carried on by her grandchildren, Tommy, Nichole, Courtney, Heather, and Meghan Wicks, as well as her great-granddaughter, Mackenzie. She also leaves behind a lineage of kin and friends whose lives she touched. The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on April 2. The Requiem Mass will follow at 11:00 am, with the rite of committal to take place thereafter. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to Immaculate Conception. The final arrangements, with dignity and care, are under the direction of Hall Davis & Son Funeral Services, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We bid farewell to Lois Buchanan Sams, a beacon of light and love in our lives. Her memory shall be enshrined in our hearts forevermore. May she rest in peace, in the sure and certain hope of the Resurrection.

It was with sorrow that I heard of Mrs. Sams' passing. I worked with her for many years. A lady of grace and wisdom, she was a treasure to the children she served and to her co-workers. God keep her safely in His care.
